You came to the right place. As a Minot native, I can give you all the information you want. First off, for jobs, check out the state web page at: Job Service North Dakota . From there you can see what jobs are available. Secondly, locate companies going through some of the websites such as the Chamber of Commerce, Tourism, and through search engines. Find the companies that employ your skills, give them a courtesy call and ask if you could send them your resume. Don't forget to send a "Thank You" card. If you need information a little quicker, you can contact me at cthorne@srt.com. I check my email daily. If you can tell me what a CNC machinist is, I can direct you to the jobs that handle those type. Good Luck. ct

CNC Machinist
CNC machinists use computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools to cut, drill, shape and finish products and components used in engineering and manufacturing. They work chiefly with metals but can also deal with wood, composite materials and plastics.
Typical duties include:
* programming the machine tool with data taken from technical drawings
* planning the most efficient sequence of operations for the job
* selecting the appropriate tools for each cut
* selecting the right cutting speeds
* setting tolerances
* positioning the section ready for the next machine operation
* checking that work meets quality and technical standards
* carrying out routine maintenance of machine tools.
The CNC machines are designed and set to produce large quantities of components to exactly the same specifications. They may use hand-operated machine tools if small quantities of a product are needed. Machinists operate tools, including:
* lathes and millers
* cutters and grinders
* machines that combine several of these functions.
MT/CNC technicians plan and set up the correct sequence of machine operations in accordance with blueprints, layouts or other instructions to write both manual and computer-generated machine programs.
This is a job my husband has been in for a few years now and believes he would like to stay with as long as there is a job available for him to work. We have considered some surrounding area if there are none of these jobs in Minot. Myself on the other hand, am good with the retail/sales positions. I am currently an Independent Consultant looking to keep my status after I move if the sales are available, and if not then I have no trouble looking into another position for full time work and work my consultant job as a hobby... very versatile.
thank you for your interest in our inquiries of moving to the area. sadly, we are committed to two years of work here before we can leave, we have 18 more months left so I felt the need to start investigating early.

Gotcha. There is a business here that does exactly that. Farroh Roof Truss. Their phone number is 701-852-1717. In church one day, he was talking about that exact thing using a computer to make his cuttings. Also, we have several machine shops that do the same thing. With oil going crazy, a lot of welding and machine shops have really expanded. When the time comes, I can pass on their numbers also. ct

I am also looking into the possibility of working in recreational shop like yamaha, polaris, or any other name brand dealers. I do not yet have my degree for small engines but am willing to go back to school to do so or maybe work out a deal with the shop owner to maybe help me with tuition.
Thank You
