Hi Michelle67,
Check out the Williston website at: Williston, North Dakota This site has all of the local information you should need. Williston has been a growing town lately due to the oil boom. Today, they are talking about the new technology that will keep this boom going for another 20 years or more. Housing is at a all time shortage due to the numerous amount of oil workers that move to Williston. If you come, bring a camper. ct

Williston does not get that much snowfall because the climate of western North Dakota is semi-arid. It is mainly very cold and dry during the winter with occasional snow events. Also temperatures can very widely at times because of the chinook downslope winds that can bring warmer temperatures for a certain period of time. Williston is an energy boom town and is a good distance away from a larger city. Bismarck or Minot would be the nearest "larger" towns.

Michelle, Williston is actually a pretty nice town. It has about 14,000-15,000 people within the city limits, and another 3-4,000 within the radius. You should check out the local newspaper Williston Herald - Online Edition or the local NBC affiliate KUMV-TV North Dakota's NBC News Leader
This could give you some idea of the news, pictures, and live weather cam shot of a street downtown. Also, check out Williston, North Dakota just some easy sites to give you a taste of the town. Like Prairie said, it gets cold, dry winters, but beautiful summers. The town itself is very nice...lots of trees, nice homes, nice downtown...but the outskirts along the highways give an impression of industrial with all of the oil companies offices, warehouses, and equipment yards, etc... but the town itself makes up for the outskirts. The outlying areas around Williston can be pretty...especially in the spring and summer months when the hills, prairies and river bluffs are green and the wild life refuge along the Missouri south of Williston is fully leaved (big cottonwood trees and water) It is on the western edge of Lake Sakakawea. Depending what you are looking for, many people are happy to cal it home.

I am so bummed. I want out of here and in a new state......In order for him to do that he has to take the test in another state and then they will. that is months and he has to go to another state to take the test..
totally bummed if I could get him a good paying job that is a long term we would be out of here......

Is there any possibility that he could get in an electrician apprenticeship program where you are wanting to move to? Probably not as good of money, but it may give you the chance to move, then later be licensed after going through the state testing/requirements.
Just a thought...

You're trying to get away from rednecks????
I see that you will be moving to Knoxville soon and hope that you will find what you are looking for there.
