Graybear, because many tribal governments do not have adequate foreclosure laws in place, it is very difficult for residents on the nations reservations to get conventional loans from the majority of lenders. I know there are federal mortgage fundings available, but they are limited yearly, and I think people have to get on a list of sorts. I believe Fannie Mae (federal mortgage lender) has loans available on many reservations. I think in ND, the 3affiliated tribes, and in SD on Pineridge. Maybe google "fannie mae" and see if there is something there. Also, maybe the ND Housing finance (state of ND agency) could possibly direct you in the right direction. But I do not know for sure. I am not real familiar with Ft. Yates, but know the have a very nice casino "Prairie Knights"...and I understand they pay pretty well.

Just curious why you are moving to the reservation? Was this home for you? I have never lived on any of the reservations, but am wondering if their are very many opportunities? It would be nice if some of the people who have left for new ventures elsewhere, could come back and open up some new businesses to bring some new opportunities and employment to the reservations. It seems you can get a job at any of the reservation casino's...but not sure what else is on the Standing Rock for jobs other than that (unless you own land and can farm or ranch or are a teacher). It would be nice if other reservations could get companies and contracts like New Town (Northrup) and Belcourt area (Turtle Mt. manufacturing)...Fort Yates needs someone to invest or open some sort of manufacturing plant , so people have more employement choices than just the casino.
