Lovin' Minot!!!:)
Hello all,
I want to thank all of you for all your help with my questions about Minot, North Dakota. My family and I are all settled in to our home on the Air Base and we are loving Minot!!!!! I can't even tell you how much I love this town. The people are so friendly, there is no crime(or very low crime), my kids are doing so great in school, the education is so wonderful. I loved going to the Norsk Hostfest, spent way too much money!! ha,ha but I had such a great time. I have been to lots of craft shows here and met lots of new people already. My hubby loves his job as Assistant Chief of Fire Training at the Fire Dept. here on base, he has 5 years left till retirement and I am hoping we stay here. Of course, our first snow was just last night, so I don't know what kind of winter I am headed for, but living in Alaska for 5 winters, I believe I am ready. We are still walking around in sweatshirts here right now!! it is wonderful and thanks again to all of you for sending me great information about the area. Melissa

i think you were the person i was looking for on here! lol
how odd, lol you took the typing right out of my fingers with my next question to post on here. what is the minot AFB like. although we are not with the air force, my husband is recently out of the active army and into the national guard. he is thinking of going active again but within the air force. coming from a military base in europe, weve met alot of air force service memebers and was wondering about what it had to offer. we have yet to make it up there as he will be with the national guard unit there until his contract is filled. (another 18 months). is there a BXtra there? or just a regular BX?

Welcome to Minot. Don't forget this Friday, the 23rd is the Christmas tree lighting ceremony along with the Main Street stores handing out ciders, cookies, and roasted chestnuts. Also, at Oak Park, starting this Friday, is the lighting of the park. The Sertoma club and local businesses have set up displays throughout the park for you to drive by during the evening. They always do a nice job. And don't forget about the Dickens Festival down at Garrison, where they recreate the town into the Charles Dickens story. Lots to do during Christmas time. ct

Minot AFB
We have a BX right now, but they just broke ground in the fall to build a new BX, I think it is going to be a BXtra. I know it will be alot bigger and better than the one we have now. The new will have a better food court and more to offer. We have a furniture store on base in the mini mall with a shoppette and dry cleaners. The commisary is really nice and has plenty to choose from. The base is really nice and we love it here. Any more questions just email me..
