Does anyone know of any companies operating in the the Bakken region of western North Dakota looking to fill GIS (geographic information systems) positions? I currently live in New Town and enjoy my current job, but I'm also interested in seeing what opportunities are out there.
Thanks

Considering you already live in the state, you may want to consider finding a good recruiting agency for professionals like engineers, GIS, ect. These won't be based in ND but larger cities like Denver, Dallas, Chicago, ect. The issue you'll have is getting with a recruiter you like (remember, they get paid by placing you) and that knows what kind of company you will be a good fit for.

The other option is to hit the main recruitment sites for production and midstream operating companies. Basically grab the list of publicly traded companies in the Bakken index and move down the list. It's how I got on with my current employer.

Thanks, that's great advice, I'll check that out. I currently do underground pipeline locating (811/One-call) for a pipeline company, and it involves minimal GIS work, but I'd like to do more. A big thing I'm seeing is that a lot of the companies operating here do all their GIS work out of main offices in Houston, Denver, etc.
