Default Possible Retirement to Bismarck

We may retire to Bismarck from Wisconsin! Are there any condos in or near the downtown area that may be close to walking trail? Any near the Missouri river?

Default Bismarck, a great choice!!!

There are a few condos around downtown, but Bismarck is mostly single homes. I did buy a brand new condo, 1700 sq ft on a terrace overlooking the Missouri valley with a tucked under double car garage for only $155,000. Sold it 3 months later for $165,000, it's a great housing market. No matter where you live in Bismarck you'll live near a walking trail. There is a lot of new development in Bismarck, and you will find more condos and multi housing in those developments. There's tons of recreation including numerous golf courses if your into that. Spend a week there during spring and get a good look around.Moderator cut: Realtor site removed Best of luck!!!

Bismarck is somewhat lacking in downtown condos as far as I know. There are currently trains that go through downtown and blow their damn wistles all night. I think the city is working on a quiet zone through downtown. Once that's done there will probably be some building downtown but there's not much right now unfortuanatly. I think Fargo might be a better bet for downtown condos.

There ARE quite a bit of condos near the Missouri and there are beautiful walking / biking trails all along the Missouri. You're probably already doing this when looking into Bismarck but be sure to check out Mandan also. I'm sure the realator that was pointed out could help there. Here's a great site with some virtual Bismarck tours:

Virtual Bismarck - Virtual Tours of Bismarck, North Dakota

Here's a Marina on the Missouri with some condos - Note these condos are probably pretty pricy:

Here's a tour of the Missouri in Bismarck

Good luck.

Marina Bay in Mandan (literally across the river from Bismarck) has some new condos being built I believe. And as I believe someone already said, wherever you find a place to live in Bismarck/Mandan, there will be a walking trail close by.
