I'm a big fan of the Silver Moon in Fargo.

Default Hidden Treasure

I'd like to invite everyone to visit Serenita Italian Bistro on Main Street in Ellendale, ND, located between Jamestown, ND, and Aberdeen, SD. What a lovely place! Each time I go there, I see decor items that I had not noticed before. And the food: every choice is wonderful, from salads to grilled panini to pasta. The restaurant was started and is run by three sisters, their spouses and their mother. This is quite a find!

They had a filet mignon with whipped sweet potatoes and a caramel jalapeno sauce as the special. It was very good.

Peacock Alley is a really nice place...Nice decor & good food. Business casual or better if you go. Went in raggedy jeans one time & felt a little out of place. Was shopping downtown & friends had always talked about it so stopped at noon. I'd call it a nice 'couples' place in the evening. You just don't have to get as dressed up as East 40 (which I'll agree is all around the best in Bismarck, and also the expensive).

Best place in Valley City is the 'City Lights' Supper Club! Good food all around. The Eagles also has really good steaks & seafood on Fri & Sat nights, and you don't have to be a member.

Chinese Palace is great if you want something a little different. Best oriental place I've ever eaten, and it's actually owned by a couple brothers from China. How they ever ended up out here, I'll never know. Just don't plan on visiting there around the time of the Chinese New Year (date changes each year, since they use a different calendar) celebrations...they lock up the place for a month & go home to China to visit family & friends.

I miss going to Lauerman's in Fargo. Good lunch sandwiches, beer is obviously good. Their made up wine coolers were awesome. I really miss the Walrus in Bismarck. It was better ten years ago though.

Randy Thorson, Fargo's bar baron, is going to make the Lauerman's spot a "specialty" beer bar and off-sale. No PBR or Miller High Life Light.

Gramma Sharon's in Williston is my favorite...big helpings...good home style food. Gingers in downtown Williston is another one.
In Bismarck, I like the Little Cottage...same kind of home made foods as the place in Williston.
Bistro' is perfect...but also like The Walrus. If I'm not mistaken, I think The Woodhouse WAS Kings or something like that back in the late 70's...you sat and ordered from the booth like how Country Kitchen used to be...maybe you can still do that at Woodhouse...but it was not The Woodhouse when I was in high school in 77'.

Last edited by Roloff1976; 12-14-2008 at 08:39 PM.. Reason: adding another Williston eatery
