So far Williston is still there and busy as ever...other than the driller layoffs(because when the rigs are stacked...there are no drilling jobs for the drillers), no one has been reporting anything major as far as layoffs...kind of curious why some from Minnesota were layed off from trucking jobs in the oilfield...as there are adds looking for truck drivers in the oil fields in NW North Dakota again...maybe with all the snow, some of the sites were shut in...but so far, so good in Williston.

Sounds like things are still going pretty good up there. Here is a link to the current oil jobs listed as of March 30th. Lots of them are trucking jobs.

Hey Roloff1976 It seems like you are letting alot of these ****ing idiots that are talking negative about the oil field, get under your skin pretty bad. Just ignore them for a while. All the guys in my family work in the oil field. They have worked on them for a long time. I know the boom is still on things are always somewhat slow in winter do to the frost law. My step dad, who is 47 years old, had beeing working on the rigs sense he was 18 years old. He said things are always slow during winter, but once the snow and frost is gone, he said hold on to your balls, which i think is very sick to say. Just go to dks and let loose and if your single go to whispers or something.

No, not letting them get to me at all...just sticking up for the town I used to live in. I think people get all gloomy doomy about a place they have never even been to, or understand. Some people just don't like the fact that Williston is still doing okay, and not busting like they all thought. Heard the new Candlewood in is getting ready to break ground. Keating furninture was bought out by I Keatings and will be a I Keatings-Ashley furniture store. Still lots of good thinkgs happening up in that town. Still the second lowest unemployment in the state at 2.7% for March...where most other counties are 4-6%...no ones getting me down. lol
some good info in the link below...current is about the new park and tennis complex...if u go into the archive, there is a really good article about the new housing being built and coming this summer in Williston.

Pretty good article on the slowdown in the oil patch...and the housing boom still going on in Williston.
The good news is, this article was written for the month of May (but written a couple months ago)...oil prices are back up to $58.68 as of today...and probably going to continue to rise as summer comes. So hopefully the slowdown will pick up to full swing soon.

Hey Sweet... sorry, nothing really new...same old same old with the housing shortage. The link below will explain the latest about the shortage. Sounds like the city is going to get into the Trailer Court business for a little while, and are hoping to have 40 trailer lots available by December (these would be available for those who are bringing in their own. Still available trailers for rent or purchase at Sand Creek trailer court... here is an article from a few days ago from the Williston Herald explaining some of it. Hopefully you can get your name on a list with some of the realtors that deal with rentals and just hang in there. Sounds like things are starting to really pick up, up there again. Lot of the companies are hiring again. Williston Herald - Online Edition
