Apologize for the dumb question, but I just have to ask - There always seem to be many vehicles with North Dakota plates here in the Twin Cities. I don't know if I have been paying extra attention this year, but I swear, when I go out on the weekends, to the parks, the freeway, Mall of America, any given neighborhood, I would say that at least 10% of the vehicles have ND plates. Now, given that the Twin Cities is 3.5 million and ND is 700K, that would mean that half of the state of ND is in the Twin Cities any given weekend. I know that's not realistic, but there seems to be more people here from ND than South Dakota, Wisconsin or Iowa. Please don't take offense, but I am seriously just curious. Do many people from ND have family ties here, just come for the weekend, are moving here? Has it always been this way? Btw, I see a lot of Manitoba plates out an about as well. Again, not complaining at all, in fact I'm glad so many of you come to visit us
Maybe I should return the favor and visit ND sometime soon! Any recommendations?
Not to mention it is the only major city within reasonable driving distance from most parts of ND. I have a brother in ND who takes mini vacations with his wife to the Twin Cities about 3 or 4 times a year just as a getaway for shopping, entertainment, etc. I suspect there are a lot of others who do the same. Most cities in ND are just not big enough to provide all of the amenities of the Twin Cities, so there is a strong appeal.
I have several friends from ND who've moved to the Twins Cities. Plus, we like to visit for Twins/Vikings, lakes, concerts. Most of my MN friends from college (NDSU) have settled in Fargo as well.
