Smile Moving from Tennessee to North Dakota

Hello my wife and I are trying to move in June and are having trouble finding an apartment in the Bismarck area ... we are having problems finding an apartment in Bismarck that will accept dogs.. we have a little dashound and we dont want to get rid of it due to our children..I have a choice to either move to Bismarck and work for Supervalu or Fargo and work at Supervalu..SO it really doesnt matter where we live as long as we can have our dog.. =) we can find alot more apartments in Fargo than Bismarck.. So here's my questions...

1) why dont bismarck apartments like dogs...

2)Should we move to Fargo where there's a better chance of getting an apartment that will acept dogs?

3)Or should we just keep trying to find one in Bismarck?
and one more question..

Is there any apartments that are kind of outskirts of Fargo. or are they all in the downtown area?

Hope this all makes since..

Thank you in advance for anyone's help on this ...

Thank you,
Bret

Ps.We have looked at GoldMark.com and IMM.com for apartments in the Bismarck area.. And i swear they hate dogs.. LOL.. Some will accept cats, but not dogs. I thought all Aparments were friendly...

You won't have much of a problem getting an apartment in Fargo that will accept small dogs, some might ask for some additional money on top of your deposit but that is about it. Fargo is pretty suburban, downtown isn't that big but if you want to be on the edge of the city there are option in both Fargo, West Fargo, and Moorhead.

There are a ton of apartments on the outskirts of Fargo. You will have your pick.

As a landlord I can personally tell you why most do not accept dogs. Plain and simple, they can destroy a place (same with cats for that matter).

They can destroy every square inch of flooring in a unit, and the small little deposit that you put down will not even begin to cover the damages caused.

I know you are probably a responsible pet owner and would never cause damage. But I guarantee every person who's pet has caused damage said the same thing.

P.S. I accept pets in some of my units, but take an additional $500 (per pet) deposit on top of my regular deposit.

Sure, there are a number of small towns just outside the city, like Harwood, Argusville, Mapleton, Casselton, Horace, Sabin, Glyndon, and a few others. Dilworth is virtually part of Moorhead, but it is on the outskirts.

there are areas in fargo with lots of apartment buildings. there is a big area south of the mall around the 17th ave and 42nd st south. there is also an area north of the mall around 9th ave and 42nd/45th st south.

those 2 areas around the mall probably have the biggest concentration of apartment buildings in fargo, but there are lots of areas that have apartments, downtown fargo has a few buildings that i know of but not alot, mostly restaurants and banks downtown fargo. if you get on google maps you could see the areas around the mall with apartments.
