Question We just moved to Bismarck about a month ago and have a question...

Why doesn't Bismarck have school buses for the children to go to school? We have just registered out eldest child in 3rd grade and when i went to ask where does the school buses pick up the children, the lady had said there isnt any.. I was like.. WHAT!! no buses thats just crazy..
Everywhere we have lived there has alwayz been school buses.. I do know if you live Wayyyyyyyyyy out in the boondocks then there is a bus system.. What do you guys do when you have to work and take your child to school? do you guys go to work late? Do your children walk and if so how far away do you live from the school your child goes to? Do you guys do alot of carpooling? just a very cerious mom..

(oh btw this is Bretster's wife asking these questions)

Thanks for all the help,
Leanne

Welcome to Bismarck. You will like this community. I moved here a few years back and really love it. I do not have children in school anymore. There was a time when they did provide busing. I think they still do, but it is contracted out to Harlowe bus service. I know they bus pre-school, special needs, and rural kids INTO Bismarck. Here is the link to the Bismarck Public Schools web site (Transportation dept) maybe you will find the information, if not the phone number, to call and get the factual information. Good Luck!\

We were also dissapointed that there isn't a bus system in Bismarck. I don't see a lot of carpooling at my child's school and there is such a congestion of cars after school. I don't work now, but when I did my husband would pick up our child from school and I would drop off in the morning so we could both get our 8 hours in at work.
