I was pretty hesitant to respond to such hatefulness, but I had to. I was born and raised in ND as well as my parents. When I came out to them, who by the way, were very religious when they were alive, told me they loved me no matter what. They supported me, loved me and loved my partner the same. My father was raised on a farm in ND and his respect and love for all people was so evident until the day he passed away. His parents were Iowa farmers who had total respect for all human beings, as well. I don't speak for all people in ND, but thank GOD just because I am a minority doesn't mean I am any different than any one else because of my private life. One's sexuality should never matter to anyone.Apparently some people think they need to know this? And for what reason? C'mon Jack, or whomever you are. Hey, I don't feel comfortable having straight couples making out around me, let alone gay couples.
And God does love me. He made me the way I am For once and for all, this is not a life choice. I did not choose to have blue eyes or blonde hair, either. But you know what? I am at peace. Maybe you will be someday, too.
I hope hatred in this world ceases to exist.Amen.

cOldfuse is saying that it is inevitable that gays kill themselves if not accepted by their parents. Could it be that his appeal is simply overemotional and not valid?

You're so funny jackie. Well, yes, my parents are very proud of me. I am a very successful, honest, honorable, caring and loving son, which happens to be gay. See the difference between your folks and mine? They see me as a son, not for who I sleep with. In fact, they are so proud of me that being gay is not really an issue. WOW, what a concept!!
[color=black][font=Verdana]STD.....if you meant to say AIDS but were trying to be a bit politically correct, well jackie, you are wrong again. AIDS is spreading faster among low income heterosexual fellows like your sons and daughters. (Mod Cut)
A woman in the body of a man....HA, I haven't heard that one since the 80's. Damn you're behind in your insults vocabulary jackie. No, I don't feel like a woman, in the contrary, I am more of a man than you could probably ever be; after all, I am sure you are not as blunt on real life as you are in here. It is very easy to hide behind a computer keyboard. Besides, I am more of what we gays call…a BEAR…look it up buddy.
Anyways jackie, I hope you can learn a few things in the remaining years you have left. Have a great life farming your cabbages or whatever you grow in those square states, don't worry, I will keep paying my gay taxes that subsidize your farm. I will also pray for your salvation, it is going to be hard, you are full of hatred, but I am sure God will forgive you. Kisses.

It always amazes me when simple mortals like you and me speak on behalf of God. "god does not make mistakes", well jackie, he created you......are you sure about your statement?

CLTKing - I don't think that resorting to insults about his masculinity or intelligence will help your argument. In addition, calling him a "mistake" or making broad generalizations about rural areas is fair either. Let's keep the personal attacks out of this.

Sometimes all it takes is lowering myself to his level so he understands my point. But I was just mirroring his response. I apologize if I insulted rural area folks.

This Thread is getting tragically OFF TOPIC...The original poster simply asked how gays are treated in North Dakota...I don't think we have to go down the path of what being gay means.. if you catch my drift
Please stay on topic..Thanks

As long as the word gay is used in any topic it will NEVER stay on topic!

Good post. I hope CDF people don't judge rural America by Jack Sawyers posts. It seems even when the Mods ask us to stay on topic, he is allowed to continue with the rude flaming posts.
There actually are homosexuals living in ND and other square states, who are not out, nor are they flaming queens. They are married and go to church, raise kids, and live next door, or sit in the next row at church. It's called being in the closet. They stay silent because it is safer and less hassle.
