Jamestown Info,PLease (Fargo, Grand Forks, Valley City: real estate, apartments, rentals)

I just got job in Jamestown,will be looking for housing,schools.
Is smaller towns nearby with cheaper housing.
Will be driving truck from Jamestown to Mcclusky.

Housing is VERY tight. There is a power plant being built close to town and there is a lot of workers in town for 2 years with that. I don't know as if I would risk packing everything up, pulling into town and being able to find a place in the first day. There are places to rent, just not many.

The smaller towns to look at would probably be Medina, Wimbeldon, Carrington, Courtney, Edgeley.

Schools are pretty good in those towns, but Jamestown has newer larger schools with more offerings.

I don't need to move right away,only 150 miles away in Fergus Falls MN.
Do you know any good realestate co. with good website that covers the small towns that you mentioned.Thanks natemn57

These are the two biggest PM firms. Of course there are lots of small mom & pop operators like myself (sorry full up).

As far as those towns, either the news paper, or call the local cafe and ask (sounds corny, but remember it is a small town).

As far as Carrington goes I can only point you to the chamber site, might want to call and ask them

I just moved to Carrington in September, and it is 42 miles from Jamestown off a well-traveled highway. There are two real-estate offices in town here. If you're interested in more information, just private message me. The school here is very good as far as I've been able to tell - my daughter is in the local high school here. There is a hospital, and most every thing you need is here or in Jamestown. It is a wonderful city with very friendly people and a good "feeling" about the town.

Here is some info I found on Jamestown housing with links to local realtor offices and listings. (you might already seen this....dont know). I live in the Grand Forks ND area....and havent been to Jamestown much. I know the other posters who responded are much more knowledgeable in that area than I.

Valley City is 33 miles to the east and the largest town around other than Jamestown, and we're still only around 6800 pop. Nothing against the small towns, either, if that's what you're looking for.

Also if you don't find a diabetes or cancer Doctor you like in Jamestown or here in Valley, it's only an hour drive to Fargo.
