home building lots
I have been thinking it over and I have decided that im going to sell my home in Missouri and take the money and come out to Williston and build one and offer it for sale. Only makes sense, I am a quality home builder and I do not want to start a new career and there is a shortage of homes out there so does anyone know how much building lots are in Williston and surounding areas? Thank you very much for reading my post

You do realize the price of oil is now close to $30 right?
Yes things are still hopping in Williston, but I would bet people are VERY cautious.
Williston has been through a lot of booms, and then busts. Many people have lost money in the "gold rushes".
Now I will be the first to say, I have not been in Williston in decades, but I do read the news. There is a fair amount of stories about the oil patch in the rest of the states newspapers.

yes I Know that crude is down but, its not going to affect an already rolling steam engine I dont think anyway. They might cut back or even store the oil but there going to get it out of there.. I might take a trip out there and look it over one of these weeks.. thanks for answering my post

Pack a jacket, and take a pair of binoculars. If you look close you can see the end of the earth from there.

Please, post a message when you get to town. I'll send a documentary crew out to film you building your house in January and February.
We'll follow up with the selling price in the Fall. You will be done then, right? By then, the market value will probably be half of what you were hoping for.
Good luck.

Between oil booms, houses sell for next to nothing.
This isn't the same market you are used to down there.
Another thing. You cannot hide out here, so you have to be careful what you say, and who you say it to. It would take less than fifteen minutes to find out which person got a building permit for a house and happens to have a southern accent.
Just sayin'.

Hey let's cool our heels. No need to get in a pizzin match over this.
The gentlemen came here with a few questions. He has been shown the downside to his plan. It is now up to him to determine what his next move would be. He is taking a slow approach, and plans a trip to check things out for himself.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

saintcin573...I just was in Williston over the past few days for Christmas. And yes, the town is still alive and kickin. There are still many new homes going up. The city commision met, and approved a Michigan developer who is building a new extended stays hotel in downtown Williston. Also and Minnesota company will break ground in spring on a Candlewood Inn and a new full service Holiday Inn. The oil prices have dropped, but because of the Bakken and the upcoming Sanish3Forks find...ND is still the place to drill and explore in the US. Some oil companies will cut back, but indicated they are letting go any employees anytime soon. In fact, when you drive around town, there are so many oil company services advertising huge signs STILL HIRING... Sanjel is expanding their camp (brand new...but are going to already expand)...Haliburton is also building new building at their camp. there are housing developers in Williston from Georgia, Idaho, Michigan, California, and Minnesota working on projects. As far as southern accents...1/4 of Williston is made up of the wonderful southerners from Texas, Oklahoma, Lousianan, and even Wyoming (some Wyomingites have southern accents)...many of these people have lived in Williston for the past 20 years working for oil companies...so there is no prejudice against southerners in Williston. Below are some links to realtors that you could check with for available building lots. (I know the city has sold all of their available lots...and are requiring developers to develop any new land)...
