Default Thompson...Grand Forks...

I'm looking to relocate to the Grand Forks area, from Montana. I was born in ND so it's kinda like "going home" for me...and I've been in northcentral MT for 17 years, I think the winter weather's even WORSE here!!
I need someone to correspond with in Thompson, ND. This just looks like the place to live, while working in Grand Forks. We have 3 children (one in college--a 13 and 9 year old) But I don't know how to even START looking into Thompson---any takers for penpals??

I don't know how big Thompson is, but if it's small the odds of someone finding the thread is small. You may just want to call whatever number you can find listed for a city hall, mayors office, post office etc. and see what they can tell you, and go from there.

I live and work in the Grand Forks area....any questions I can most likely answer. But agree witn prev post....dependong on the questions you can contact the city for info. Thompson is a small bedroom community...it does have its own school system (Thompson Tommies)....but few services as most people get gas/food, etc in Grand Forks.

My wife lived in Thompson growing up and her parents are still there. If you have any specific questions I can try to get them answered for you.

We spent a summer living there with our kids once between clinicals. When we lived in GF we would spend all day Sunday out there.

I have been researching, trying to decide if it would be best to live in Thompson and work in GF, I like GF but I like the small town atmosphere for kids. One of the biggest factors for our family, though, is HOCKEY. My kids have said, undeniably, that they are not moving anywhere that they can't play hockey. So...do you know, are there kids in Thompson that play hockey in Grand Forks? It doesn't look like there is officially a TEAM from Thompson...but do kids commute?

Thompson has no hockey team at all. All the kids drive to GF. My wife knew lots of kids that played either with parkboard or one of the clubs as kids. Their are many kids that live in Thomson and their parents drive them to school in GF everyday. Just about everyone works there.

Another option you may think about is Manvel, just to the North of GF. They start busing their kids to GF for school in 6th or 7th grade.
