I'm not sure I understand.
There are only two living species of alligator, American (Alligator mississippiensis) and the Chinese (Alligator sinensis)--both of which are located far from Ethiopia. How did he get close to an alligator? Why did this Ethiopian man eat them? Was it because he was hungry, a reference to the 1984 famine that ravaged the country? If he was an immigrant to the United States he is likely working hard like much of the other Ethiopian and Somali people who can be seen working multiple jobs and sending money back home while supporting their families in places like Minneapolis.
Cultural references over 25 years are the pinnacle of comedy gold.
Did you hear the one about the presidential candidates? Reagan might fall asleep during his cabinet meetings, but if Mondale were elected he would put the whole cabinet to sleep!

What & where is ' etheopia'.
1. Consult atlas.
2. Use spell check.
3. Repeat joke.
4. Still not funny.

Not really sure where "etheopia" is either.. But I do know where Ethiopia is. It is one of the oldest inhabited countries on earth. It is mentioned in the Iliad and The Odyssey. If you have a little time, try reading this:
Ethiopia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(I bet you'll learn something new today.. I did)

Clearly this is the first time you've encountered CITY-DATA FORUMS SUPERSTAR JACK SAWYER. If he's not espousing homophobic or racist beliefs with grammar that would fail a 1st grader, he is trying to 'subtly' advertise his paving business with his website (circa 1997). I've seen geocities pages with better content.
