More diversity is always good. We're forced into learning about and getting to know people that seem different than we are. Then, we find out we have a lot more in common than we realize.
The only problem I have is when only one group is suppose to do all the learning or the bending. Certainly different cultures are interesting, but both groups can learn from each other. There is a rich and interesting history in North Dakota, just as there is elsewhere. I like to see people keep their own cultural roots but embrace and assimilate to their new surroundings.
OP, Certainly North Dakota is becoming more diverse all the time, but its still one of the least diverse states in the country. Hispanic, Asian and black residents each make up a small percent of the population. American Indians remain the largest minority group.
That's harsh, Liquid Sword. (Also probably illegal.) Having been recently denied housing because I have children (and yes, the wording was pretty much just as blatant), I feel for you. That is not right!!

Sounds as if he was renting a room in a private house....and in that case I believe the housing laws against discrimination dont apply if it is just one room..... unless that is a contract was already signed by both parties, which this case there wasnt.

Correct in all assumptions.
He was my best friend's father. And he's an *******.

I agree 100 percent...it is a shame that someone is so heartless to do that.....doing something to someone they have never met and knowing they were on their way. You are better off without it.
Well as I have no backup plan concerning ND, this guy may have completely changed the course of my life.
Thanks for the encouraging words, folks.
