Midco Cable vs. Fox KNDX-KXND
We cable subscribers in western ND are in a situation where our cable provider Midcontinent and our local FOX tv affiliates KNDX-KXND are bickering over fee's...in the end...Midco cable can no longer broadcast KNDX-KXND Fox tv, so we no longer have a FOX network to watch on cable...goodbye American Idol, The Simpson, Family Guy, Bones, etc... etc... etc... I contacted Midco and asked why they need to use the KNDX-KXND affiliates out of western ND...I just got a generic e-mail back basically asking me to contact FOX and ask that they let Midco broadcast on their cable services. FOX is acting the same way...blaming MIDCO for being greedy, etc...... bickering back and forth with each other...but WE are the losers out on this.
Midco will probably lose subscribers who will replace their services with DISH, and FOX will lose ADVERTISING business because viewers no longer are seeing ads broadcast over cable.. Could someone tell me why Midco even needs to use the North Dakota affiliates??? Why can't Midco cable broadcast an affiliate out of Fargo, or Minneapolis or even Chicago or Detroit for that matter??? We Want A FOX sation here in Western ND!!!!!!!

I would think the cable company could choose what ever station or line up they want for their system. But, maybe they have to broadcast the local affiliate if there is one in that broadcast region? Not sure, I know our cable companly a few years ago used to broadcast ABC out lf Denver, even though there was ABC in Minot.

Talking with one of the local stations, they are telling me that Fox delivers their network free, which they are using an antennae, but Midco charges their subscribers. Fox feels that if Midco is going to charge subscribers, then Fox should receive part of the pie.

But Midco does pay the other free stations like NBC, ABC, CBS, WB, PBS, and FOX already... it is hard to believe anymore who is telling the truth...FOX is claiming they are the victims and are only asking what is a fair price on this 3 year contract...MIDCO claims they are the victim and say that FOX is asking 10 times more to re-broadcast than the other free over air stations...I just wish these 2 would figure it out...the only ones getting the raw end of the deal are the viewers. As a cable subscriber...FOX was on the lineup...so MIDCO should either get the deal done or find another FOX affiate from another city. FOX should not be charging more for their broadcast, than any of the other stations. Not sure who is telling the truth here.

I just wanted to chime in and state that Midcontinent Communications is an EXCELLENT company. Their customer service is probably the friendliest 1-800 number I have ever used.

I know many people were saying they were dropping Midco and getting Dish or Direct (because of this Fox thing)...I will stick to Midco. I've heard good and bad about both Midco cable...vs Dish and Direct. But, I'm satisfied with Midco and am sticking with them.
