Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles...
Do we still store these here in ND? Are they ready to be used, or collecting dust in some bunkers?
We recently moved here to Fargo and my husband travels for business all over the state and thinks he has spotted some sites. We were just curious if these are still in operation, and if they were indeed equipped with nuclear warheads.
Are these the type that need a code from top security to launch?
I'm actually not too worried about them...I believe if we ever got to the point where we did need to use something this severe, I would think we were all going to be cooked anyway. God forbid it came to this.

Yes, there are still several active batteries of ICBMs in North Dakota, although many have been decommissioned.

Pretty much all across northern North Dakota. I see them near Garrison, New Town, Minot, etc...

We moved to ND almost 20 years ago. At that time, we were told, if ND seceeded from the US, it would have the 3rd largest nuclear arsenal in the world.
The silos are scattered throughout the states, but somewhat concentrated in arcs going out from the two air bases.
