wow guys...nothing like scaring the poor lady....
I am not saying that that area is not predominantly German....but there are accepting people in the communities. Kids are kids...they will be harsh...everybody goes through it. I grew up close to Harvey. Yes I am a white catholic...but I had friends that had different ethnic backgrounds and religions, not very many, but still.
Harvey has a lot to offer. I am sure if you look hard enough you might be able to find some others with the same religion and beliefs...
Well I hope that you do move to ND! We are a great state...one of the safest and don't let anybody freak you out!!
I don't know if you have check out the website for Harvey yet... City of Harvey North Dakota
oh yeah and Bismarck is closer to 75 miles away...which is still a long way..
GOOD LUCK!!!

I am moving from the Chicago area--50 miles south. I am currently in Fargo as my boyfriend accepted a job here 6 weeks ago. We are looking for a house to buy. I am still living in Illinois until we find something. Our goal is to be in a house by sept. 1. Our family consists of Daisy, a yellow lab and Carlie and Millie our felines! New to the area and weather elements we would like to stay close to the city of Fargo but do like a rural feel. We are early 40's. My boyfriend is an avid hunter and outdoorsman. I on the other hand am not a cold weather fan and have arthritis along with a knee replacement. I guess I need to buy a coat made of buffalo to keep warm, aye!? We have found the people of Fargo to be very welcoming.

North Dakotans are very tollerant about anyones religion. You will be fine if you don't try and push the fanatical side of Islam on anyone in North Dakota. We tresure our heritage. All religions are accepted here. You'll be fine if you accept North Dakota for what she is. Don't expect North Dakota to adjust to any one faith. We are a free state. If you can accept that, you will be just fine. I think I speak for most NoDakn's.

With respect to drugs..America is overrun, either throug illegal or legal means. The best defense to drugs is say NO, plain and simple. Clearly, one can choose drugs and destroy his/her life, or find a fulfilling existence in making positive contributions to the community. I think this is a no brainer. Just look at the examples in hollywood...drugs kill.

If you have a engagement ring and a wedding date, I think you will be just fine. You will love North Dakota too. Has everything you will want. Good luck!!
PS.. Don't tell anyone, but North Dakota is one of the best hunting places in the USA....

I'm curious here, MikeyToo... what does having an engagement ring and wedding date have to do with any of her questions? As far as I've been able to determine from her posts, they haven't gotten engaged.
Or perhaps you were joking?

The meat plant is no longer producing Halal meat and hasn't for the past 2 years. It now processes natural/organic beef and does custom processing of beef and bison. It is now owned by a couple in Bismarck who also have a business in Mandan or thereabouts. As far as not accepting Muslims, when the meat plant was producing Halal meat, a lot of the locals purchased their meat from the plant, but there was not enough shipped/sold outside of North Dakota to make the plant viable. Overheads were very high.

Hi. No ring or wedding date! And that is fine with me. It is May 1st and still snow on the ground!! I still need that buffalo coat. We bought a house in West Fargo and just love it! Fargo has been a welcoming change from Illinois. People are friendly. We are enjoying it here.

I am surprised to see MSUgrads comments. I am living in a small town in N.D. not too far from Harvey. My husband is in the military and there are people from every race and religion here. The school that my kids go to is so small that Kind-12th is all in one building and there are kids there from everywhere and they fit in. I come from a small town and it was shocking to me to see how well all the kids treated each other. I have been here for 2 yrs. now and love it, everyone is friendly and accepting.
