Sunset-VA: I am narrowed in what work I will do. Duh, it's what my degree is in! This is what I went to school for and this is what I need experience in to get a job when I finish my master's so yes, I need a job in this field. I am just disappointed that there doesn't seem to be much in North Dakota in this field. As for my misery following me, I'm not miserable now. I'm quite happy. I just know what I like and what I don't. I just want to get insider information about whether I could actually like this place or not based on what I do like. And getting a job there is kind of a big deal...what with bills and living and all. I'd really like to hear useful information.

And of course, there is no meth where you are at in Mesa right now. Of course not.

If you want to see a real meth problem, come on down to Missouri. If it's not the meth capital, it by far has the most meth lab busts in the nation. Pretty much everybody I know in Missouri and Arkansas has a story to tell about it. Meth has affected everyone on some level down here. You almost can't get away from it.

Excuse an out-of-stater for interjecting here, but there is one place that is always in need of mental health professionals. The state prison system has anywhere from 25% to 75% of its population on psychotropics here in Oklahoma. And very few people are willing to work in prison due to preconceived notions of what it is like. I would be willing to bet there is a similar need in every state.
There are different prison's with different security classifications. I work at a minimum security prison here in Oklahoma, and our Psych and assistant are not what you would expect to find in a prison setting. Meaning neither came with any experience in prison setting. Not all prisons are like the TV show Oz, or Riker's.
Good luck on your relocation.

Except for the fact that Minot, ND does not have a state prison.

There's a whole psych ward at the hospital, or there was a year or 2 ago....a friend used to work there.

I have friends from Columbia, St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, and Independence and they say otherwise.

You can go out and google the meth statistics...Missouri is still ranked number one...but is primarily centered around Franklin County, Missouri. It is much better today than back in 2005...so that is a positive for the state. Missouri is still the number one state for meth labs for both per capita, and the number of meth labs busted.
