Relocating to Williston---NEED HOUSING
Is there any to be had? My wife and I are transferring to Williston with Halliburton, and are seeking a place to live. Ideal would allow pets, but from what I have read last few days, beggars can't be choosers! So far we have ravaged the internet from the herald, the shopper and the CoC and not getting any replies to our inquiries. If any of you out there know of something could you please help? Thank you very much!

You might try this side of City Data. There's usually some realitors or at least some ideas listed.

Hmmm
So...from what response I have gotten it seems that a 2br apt is going for $1100-$1300 a month.....is that right? Wow...might need to rethink this transfer. Also, I am curious, does the actual paper edition of the Herald have more listings than the online version under "For Rent?" Basically all that is there is assisted living places.

WDE, yes the online (paid) version does have more detailed listings...but not much to choose from. Not ALL 2bdr apts go for that high price , just the newer ones that were built recently. But rentals are pretty hard to come by I've heard. Something to consider is Sand Creek Estates trailer park...they are renting NEW trailers 2-3bdrm 2-bath.(lot rent included) for under $900. 00. I believe you can have pets also.
Also...consider contacting the Williston Chamber of Commerce, Visitors Bureau, or any of the local Realtors on the Williston ND - Homepage site... they might be able to suggest or point you in the right direction.

I'm thinking the reason for the higher prices are because unlike Fargo and Bismarck, developers are not worried about building multiple rental units in those 2 cities. So, everywhere you look in Bismarck and Fargo, you see new apartment complexes springing up left and right. In Williston, developers are a bit more cautious, and are still leary about building too many apartments. (worried that they will lose their butts if the oil boom goes bust like in the 80's). So, Williston still struggles to provide rentals to new residents moving in...making it very competative to find housing. I think everyone agrees this boom is not like the 80's boom... they know where the oil is this time, and how to get it out. It all depends on prices, and so far, the 65-75 dollar oil has been good for North Dakota's oil patch...it didn't bust like many people thought it would do (coming down from the 150.00 oil a couple years ago)...they can still make a profit at the current prices. I read where they just sold the other "closed" trailer park "cimmaron heights" that closed during the bust of the 80's... I think there are around 500 spaces in that court...someone from Colorado bought it and is re-opening that court...so now all trailer parks are back up and running in Williston... which should help with some of the housing crunch...unlike most of the other parks that are full...this one will allow older trailers (but they have to be a certain criteria) so people can bring in their own this time without having to buy new.

My husband and I are having the same problem you are. I am even running into people on the streets in williston that have nowhere to live. Our solution was to find a place in Sidney, Montana. And yes, almost every place in williston that is available is either too high or for assisted living. You just really have to keep a close eye on it and pray that something affordable comes open and you catch it in time. Just to warn you, there are a bunch of people looking for affordable housing in williston too, so if you see something, jump on it immediately. Keep a close eye on the papers and good luck.

Sometimes you have to drive a ways to get better housing. I lived in Glendive, Wolf Point & Plentywod. Drove back/forth for a couple of years until I found a small house in New Town.
