Default Young guy moving from Minneapolis to Fargo/Moorhead

What would be the best area for me to start searching for apartments?? I am going to work in West Fargo but have no desire to live around the urban sprawl of malls, corporate businesses and giant apartment complexes. I like places with "character".

I like locally owned businesses, coffee shops, art and design, good food and drink, parks, live music, and the ability to access it all via bicycle. Possible??

Any recommendations for where to start looking?

THANK YOU

PS - I am 26 and although I enjoy the vibrancy of college life, I have no desire to be dealing with the sounds of obnoxious drunk people on weekends

Downtown Fargo sounds like your kind of place. South and West Fargo is sprawlville.

true; plus, you aren't going to find much in the way of live music in south or west fargo.

living without a car in fargo is painfully hard, you will have to make some concessions.

I would second Downtown, or there are also some apartments as infill in the Historic Hawthorne neighborhood with easy access to the walking/biking paths along the river.

Thanks everybody. I will start looking downtown. Perhaps I will be forced to live elsewhere, but that sounds like a good place to start. I DO have a car, but I enjoy biking as a mode of transportation (when the weather allows).

downtown for sure. i live just a few blocks off broadway and it's great to be able to walk (or bike in your case) to broadway to grab a drink, grab a bite to eat, get a coffee, etc.

how much are you looking to spend? because i have a few NICE apartments in mind...
