I worked three jobs at the same time - menial ones included to get to where I am now - a masters. The thing is I have field agents with no degrees who make more money than I do! Having a big city degree is no assurance of getting a well paying job in the western states.

Perhaps that's true if all you're looking for is money, but the academic lifestyle can't be beat..... Especially since AF spouses tend to move around, a portable credential is a rather valuable thing to have, especially a 'big city degree' from Minot State.

I wasn't trying to imply that there aren't any people who are content to work in a position that falls below their qualifications. I'd gladly take and keep a job I was overqualified for if the pay was enough to make a comfortable living.

Just curious about how to go about getting a day time job with regular hours.
Wouldn't you have something to complain about, living in this 7/24 city!

The casino's are at their busiest on weekends, so they give most of their employees weekdays off. And, in addition, you might be working 8pm to 4am, or 4am to noon, or noon to 8pm or any other combination of shifts. You work a 9-5er, wife works at a casino or some other 24/7 non-casino establishment, your only weekends spent together will be on your 1 or 2-week vacations every year.

You meet someone at a single's bar here, the two most important questions you ask first: What hours do you work? What days are you off?

I work graveyard shift, haven't had a weekend off in 8 years (except vacations), but I've adjusted well. One bonus: cheaper hotel rooms during the week.

But I do empathize with your plight.
