Our family was just offered a rental home in PCP located in Tobyhanna, Pa, near Sterling Street/Rd. We were wondering about the neighborhood, schools, special ed, etc. in the area before we make a final decision. It would help us a great deal if we could get some feedback from either the folks in the area, or from others who know about it. Thanks so much for your time and input!!

Too some its paradise , too others its the ghetto.. PCP is a community that has major problems with Drive by shootings , gangs , drugs , Molesters , prostitutes , and everything else that goes with that .. Google it , Do a search here . I lived there 5 yrs ago .. although I never had a problem there ,their was plenty of police action and always something going on.. I would not point anyone to there unless you were trying to hide out from something .

OMG here we go again! You need to research on this site all about it. It is a slum, a gang haven, full of inner city sewer trash, lots of corruption on the BOD, drive by shootings, well, there you have it. There are some nice people, I am sure, but few and far between. Check out house prices- why do you think PCP houses are soooooo cheap???????
Good luck and look elsewhere!

Take our advice, Rich...stay far and I mean FAR away from PCP...I wouldn't recommend it to a rat!! The place is really no good especially if you have kids who could be influenced by that type of environment...get in contact with a real estate agent (there's one on this board by the name KarenRice) and let them show you around...but whatever you do don't stay there...

PCP...all the problems of a big city, without the convenience of a big city. Drugs/gangs/crime and being out in the boonies. I don't see any positives. I never understood why people move to the country, yet live in a development with neighbors right next to them. If I lived in the country, it would be for peace and quiet and no neighbors.

I second that one, gophillies...that's why I'm glad to be living where I am on 1/2 acre corner lot with 1 neighbor behind me and another to my left and that's all...everyone else is spread out...

Ha ha!! yes! I was told I was moving to the "country" when I followed my suitor to PCP. What a joke that was! It was way more city then where I came from- east end of LI! Glad to say I am back on the east end and it is quiet and peaceful and I am not worried about drive by's or gangs! I have property, trees, nice neighbors and no rap music shaking my house!
PCP is a dumping ground for misfits and gangs and... well I think you get my point. LOL

All that I can add is that this is one place that I have NEVER EVER heard one good thing about.
I am also from the East End of Long Island and my one foray into PCP was a very urban experience indeed. And not in a good way as in cultural activites and conveniences.
In a blighted scary way.

Yes sheena- it is downright scary. Stonybrook is nice as is Wading River-where I am. There is no comparison. In fact, it leaves me at a loss for words- which is highly unusual when it comes to PCP!
I was reading your posts about West Pittson. (I think it is there and I think that was you). I could write a book on the neighbors I had in Pa- not only in PCP but after I moved out of there. There were times I had to double check in the mirror cuz I wondered if I had 2 heads!
Just remember- the grass is not always greener!!!

Default Please dont move there

I live in Tobyhanna not to far from there. Whenever you hear police sirens, that is where they are headed. If you are looking to move from the city to a more peaceful place, don't go to PCP.
