Default Vacationing in the Poconos?

I am looking to spend a long weekend in the Pocono's in October, November or December of this year. I don't really mind if it is a rental property or resort but I would like to have a fireplace. I see some of the resorts are very expensive! Also, I really don't know the area that well but would like to be close to the "action." We like shopping, history, tubing, lakes, small pubs and good restaurants. We also would like to see Bushkill Falls and the Delaware Water Gap. I don't know if that helps much!

I have been looking at rentals but the Pocono area is so large I don't know where I would be in proximity to these areas.

Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions!

Default Rentals

Towamensing Trails has many homes for rent with "fireplaces".......
They have a lake and a clubhouse.......There is skiing nearby.
From there you can go to the Oulets in Tannersville, visit the new Great Wolf Lodge, Ski at Camelback. I think there are some reasonable homes listed with MaryEcnkRealty (sp/ If I have that wrong PM me) in Albrightsville.
Tubing in the winter........snow tubing can be had at Camelback area.
I think her homes are reasonable........you'd have to visit her site.
I've seen some very nice homes with rental signs in there......
From there you can visit Jim Thorpe for antiques also.........
Hope this will help.......cost wise......as you had asked...

Have you considered renting a house in a Community, such as the one I live in..The Hideout? Many things to do...winter activities are very possible during those months, The Hideout's web-site is Hideout POA - Home
You can certainly find a home with a fireplace, maybe even on the lake if you like, can cook some of your own meals, and enjoy the amenities that the community offers. If I didn't live here, it would be the type of place I'd like to rent a house for a week.

Kays has a great brownie sundae. When we are up there, but husband's family loves to get there at least once. They own a home in Lake Arrowhead, but there are also rentals there I think.

Cove Haven on Lakewallenpaupack is a hot spot for fun. It is a bit expensive but everything is included except alcohol. Breakfast in bed, wonderful buffet dinners and more. There are a variety of things to do also. Honest Phil is the best social director you could ask for. We have been going to Cove Haven for over 30 years now and still love it. You can have a fireplace in your room, a pool and and sauna too! We always choose the Garden of Eden Apple. We have also met alot of nice people there also.
We don't even leave the resort because there is so much to do right on the premises.
Hope this helps.

Cove Haven is nice, I went for a tour once with a cousin from Canada. Hard to believe there is a place like that right under my nose!
But...don't plan on bringing the kiddies!

My partner and I eat at Kay's quite a bit. The owner is so nice! She waited on us personally the last time we were there and let us each take a free Christmas cookie!

Now...there are two Kays. I don't know if they are realted or owned by the same owners. I have been to both and they are both good. The one in Lake Ariel has a HUGE Eclair, home made... that is really good!
