River, Summer, you guys are wishing your lives away...Enjoy each of the seasons in turn...Yes, it's cold but remember last summer when it was scorching hot and everyone was complaining about that?...Turn up the thermostat, fire in the fireplace, good book or the NY Times crossword, and a cup of hot chocolate (or an adult beverage) and enjoy every minute...We only have a limited amount...
Gypsy........Nah, I love everyday I have on this earth. Just some a bit more then others....You'll never, ever, hear me complain about a hot summer.
I was utterly delighted with heat. I love water and heat.....
Even Florida in the summer is a delight for me.......
I use to not mind cold, but now it just goes right into my bones....I usually get pneumonia in the winter. To think I use to pile up eight cords of wood and lug it in to the stove.......That wonderful smell of newly chopped wood.
I have to admit a beautiful fire going with wonderful company and hot chocolate sounds good to me. We have actually let our kids and neighbors put up a tent in the family room and sleep over. Roasting marshmellows...along with hot chocolate.
I need another layer of skin or something......or fur perhaps....
I use to be the official snow shoveler......too..........I had to be.

I love winter, snow, cutting standing deadwood for firewood, so dry that it actually sparks when your chainsaw makes contact.... Splitting wood is what I love best...therapy...
After my first trip to Hawaii in 1984 to visit my traveling buddy/brother when he moved there from Amsterdam to teach at the Punahou school...
I was hooked, tropics, warmth, strolling on the beach in
'board shorts', peeling an orange, papaya or a graperuit for breakfast'''
I found my skin was beggin' for a lil color, my white hair and green eyes were highlighted by a 'sun kiss'...
Si, I am vain but I am also very truthful
Then my lovely wife, a 'Carribean Queen' inherits, along with her two sisters, a house in Rincon, Puerto Rico with 300 plus feet of beach frontage....So, for the last 25 years I have luckily been able to get a two-three week stay in the tropics to maintain my sanity and ward off the winter blues.
My brother and fam From Hawaii as well as my wife;s fam from FL stayed with us after we came back from a short week in PR...They loved the snow, walked around, took pics, made a snowman in the middle of the blizzard, did 'snow angels etc...then they went back to Paradise.....
I want to move so badly to some place warm...but I feel I would be burning my bridges behind me and really miss this great old house that I live in and am continually improving....

Mahalo, Hillrunner, Ironically, I just came on to post what a great day it has been so far for me,
Saw some great pics and interesting narrative from a fellow Nepa forumite this morn of the town where I was born...
I CC skied 14 miles, on a flat even surface along a frozen canal tow path with my best bud, my Golden Retriever 'Myles,'
Also, came on to offer my apologies to another forumite, 'Riversider' who I might have misjudged/ misinterpreted one of his posts recently.
I came into the back Sunroom from skiing. and my olfactory senses were filled with the enticing aroma of a home-made crust Chicken Pot Pie....
Life is good.
Tonight, I will watch 'the Molly Maguires' on Showtime for the second time in my life...original viewing was in 1970 when it debuted.
Like you said Hillrunner, a time and place for everything...
Reminds me of Pete Seegers song; 'to everything, there is a season...Turn,Turn, Turn'... his eloquent take on a chapter from the Bible's
'Book of Eccliastes'
