My wife & I have been living in Wilkes-Barre since late last spring, and one thing the area has is a lot of churches. Many of these have really nice architecture and are fairly elaborate (stonework) and visually great subjects.
For the past few years, I have a distant relative from Germany (a descendant of one of my mother's grandfather's brothers), about my age, who has been writing me just about every month now. I'd like to send him some cool classic church pictures of the area. I know the churches around here are no match for those in Europe which have been around 500 years or more, but being a photographer by hobby, could a few of you point me out to the best ones to photograph in the area? I live near the one near Blackman & Hazle, and have seen the stonework at St Stephens downtown, and noticed there's a big one in Pittston. We don't drive all the side streets much, but I'm sure there are quite a few. Just need names and/or streets. I'll take some shots & put them on my website for all to see as well. Thanks.

There's a neat church on North St inbetween North main and North franklin st. Also, St Nicholas's downtown on S Washington is beautiful. In Miner's Mills there is a massive russian orthodox church up on the hill overlooking the neighborhood
