Hi there
I just spent the last week in pa ; and we go there a lot.
Why do I spend the last day always in a terrible mood.

Oh yes, its because I love it there. The kids are outside playing, weather ; ok, this week we had a little rain, not fun with a camper. But loved Casino Movies in MT Poconos. We drove to The Hideout and WLE. I prefered WLE, but its just my opinion.

Now I am back on Long Island less than 12 hours, eyes are driving me nuts, allergies are bothering me, sore throat.

Cant wait to return on two weeks.

dorothy

Hi, I have lived here for 29 years, when I was growing up, we would summer here, no matter what state we lived in. I now visit Ny and when I get there my eyes get watery, it hurts my lungs (and throat) to breathe, and my skin gets like a dirty film on it, which feels awful. It makes me wonder what damage it does to the people who live there all the time. So I am wondering, when you firsty get back, can you feel the difference in the air on your body?

Dorothy,
You you have a home in the Poconos? Just wondering, since we'll have a home soon and will be doing the weekend/vacation thing. By the way, we also live on Long Island, Baldwin to be exact. How often do you go to PA? I would love to go every weekend, but realistically, I'm sure that won't be possible. Hope to move there permanently in two to three years.

We have a seasonal campsite that we have been going to for 4 years. We try to get there as much as possible. It opens in april and so we try to go every other weekend. July 4th ; I am usually off work for a few days so we go then.

We are hoping to buy a home there and rent it out to vacationers but also use it ourselves.
We are in Medford

Not sure how I feel about renting my home to vacationers and then using it myself. I know someone who does this in Florida with no problem. I just don't think I can get used to someone using "my stuff" and then taking care of any reckless damages done to the house.

We are ok. We have a few rental houses here on long Island. Once you get over the initial shock of someone else using it, its ok really.

I disagree. For every New Yorker or New Jersian who considers moving to the city of Scranton, I promise to remove one article of clothing. If enough move here, I'll run nude along the 315 commuter belt to show my appreciation! If you then agree to donate $25 per household to the American Cancer Society, I'll put my clothing back on to prevent car accidents from occurring!

The only problem is, the NY and NJ people aren't moving to the city of Scranton. There really isn't anything there for anyone except for a mall and some trendy shops that go out of business after a year or two. It really is a shame that Scranton can't get it's act together and provide basics such as grocery stores, etc. in the downtown. Even small towns such as Hawley at least offer these necessities to their inhabitants.

And although many people love the Hideout and it does have alot to offer if you enjoy living in a development, mannny is correct in his comment about the drugs. When I was in school, the Hideout kids were known for their parties and for the cops being called in at times. It's nickname is "Little New York" for those of us who have watched the area change over the past thirty years. The only people I know of that give the Hideout glowing reviews are those that have moved there from NY and NJ and those that don't actually live in the community.
