In recent months the police presence on Suscon Rd. above Pittston/Dupont has quadrupled.
Both state police and locals are participating.
Speed traps, stakeouts, etc.
Does anyone know what's going on up there??

Hopefully they are catching all the city slickers who think Pittston Twp. is prime real estate to illegally ride their ATVs!

Speed traps, stakeouts, etc.
Where did you get that info from. I live in Suscon and I don't see that. A line across the road does not make it a speed trap the speed is posted and if you are over you get a ticket. Stakeout ? at who's house.State police live up here about five of them so that is why you see so many they are coming and going home. Illegal ATVs not if your in the woods and if they are on the road it is us. Need to get to the woods HA HA!

Maybe there is a terrorist plot to blow up the gas storage tanks?

I have to agree with gherrm. I have not noticed any increase in police presense on the main road.

But I did encounter Tom Kelly, a Pa State Trooper yesterday as I took a quick ride on my sister's ATV when I visted her in the Pocono Ridge development. I stopped to say hello to him as he was raking leaves in his front yard. His wife Candice (Ch 28 news anchor) got a few kisses from my sister's yellow lab that likes to ride in the custom-built doggy platform on the back.

Great location there - hop the trail to the pipeline at the top of Langan's road and you can ride all the way to the Big Dam near Westminister !!

My wife and I see them quite often as we come down from Meadow Run
about ten miles beyond the top of the hill there.
Sometimes in the turnouts beyond the shooting range.
Sometimes near the bottom waiting for speeders.
Lots of times they'e pulled people over and are writing tickets.
We saw three people at one time getting citations up there.
Great source of revenue since the posted speed limit is 45 mph
and most people fly along like a shot in that stretch.
Suggest you keep an eye out.

I sometimes travel that route from 115 across to Mountain Lake then head down to Dupont.
Did so a week ago.

I know an occaisional state cop will cruise that road, but I don't know what would spur an increase in police presense since there is really not alot of traffic volume on that road - especially above the Grimes Industrial Park.

Who knows.

Who knows.

It seems they're mostly targeting the evening rush hour traffic
between 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm. when Suscon Rd. does have
a much higher traffic volume in both directions.
I have also seen them during the morning rush but not as much.
Outside of that you'll rarely if ever see them up there cause
there just isn't enough traffic to make it worth their while.
But when they're out they're pulling people over left & right.
I notice statedies and locals w/Pittston cars.
I think that the Dupont PD recently folded into Pittston PD
so maybe it's a new turf for them, I dunno.

You also have a lot of drunks up there too.
You'll see them in the turnouts drinking beer.
I come down from Meadow Run Estates (Mtn. Lake) about 7 or 8 mi.
past the shooting range towards Thornhurst and see them hiding in
the turnouts along the road.
The posted limit thru there is 45 mph and most folks do at
least 65 mph if not more.
I'll usually do around 50 or so with no problems.
I think they're after the hot-rodders and beer drinkers mostly.
You see em passing on the double yellow all the time.
Just be carefull driving thru there and watch other drivers too.
