Default PSA - Buy your drywall now !!

If any of you have any home improvement projects scheduled in the near future that involve drywall, buy it before the first week of Dec.

The prices are slated to increase by 25%.

Learned about that little gem today. Reason is that the construction industry is slow and the major makers of drywall are flexing their muscles.
Does not make sense to me. Evidently the law of supply & demand does not work anymore with the drywall industry, they have adopted the rules of the oil companies.

I've got a project that will cost me an additional $500 if I was to wait until the end of the year. Fortunately I have just enough inside storage space which will allow me to order tomorrow and take delivery in a couple of days.

If I had an empty warehouse I would buy $100,000 worth and sell it off at a 12.5% markup, make myself a quick 12.5% ROI and save folks 12.5%.

Just what a slow housing market and the everyday Joe needs - a drastic increase in basic construction materials..

Anybody have a warehouse that wants to partner up and make a quick buck?

I recall the big price jump a few years ago. The drywall makers blamed it on a shortage of Portand cement - which was being supposedly being bought up to be used in Iraq reconstruction projects - so they say......

I don't understand how the manufacturers can justify increasing prices when demand is down...

It's no skin off your butt, till folks start putting off projects...

A few hundred here, a few hundred there, I'm not sure how much more the common Joe can withstand. Big increases in groceries are right around the corner as well.
