Default Bar and club scene in Scranton

Not sure if this has been talked about before on this forum, but I was wondering if you all could make recommendations on the best bars and clubs in the general areas of Scranton and Wilkes Barre. I'm particularly interested in places that are located within the cities, not some 30 minute drive into the countryside. I used to know a few places, such as Tinks and Farley's in Scranton and some techno/house club on Market St. in what I think was Kingston, just across the bridge from downtown Wilkes Barre (think that place closed though, and I don't remember the name). Thanks in advance!

If you're talking about downtown Scranton, Tinks and Flashbacks are the most popular. There's also the Martini Bar, Whistles, Molly Brannigans. There's also a club called TRAX in the Radisson Hotel and a bar in the Hilton Hotel also. But some of the best bars in the city are in the neighborhoods like Green Ridge, West Side etc.

Could you list a few? Also, how [un]safe is South Side (i.e., Pittston Ave.) these days?

And is Molly Brannigans the pub that sits on the corner of Lackawanna Ave. and some other street, across Lackawanna from where the mall is I believe?

Thanks!

Molly Brannigans sits on the old site of the Casey Hotel on the corner of Lackawanna and Adams Ave. directly across from the Hilton Hotel. It's a few blocks away from Steamtown. There are certain parts of South Side which are still safe, put I don't know every section since I live in West Side. I forgot to mention Poor Richard's Pub at South Side Bowl.

In West Side there is Legends Bar & Grill on Main Ave across from Wachovia bank. Dave's Log Cabin on Main Ave near the Taylor border is nice little bar. Then there's the Farr Street Tavern, Bryn Mawr Cafe and The Lounge on Jackson Street to name a few. In Green Ridge there's Waldo's, McGinty's, Cosgroves and McMullen's on Market Street. There's Andy Gavins on North Washington Ave. near the prison and Heil's Place on Wheeler Ave in East Scranton near the Dunmore border. These are just some of our city's local bars. I hoped this help. If anyone else wants to mention any others feel free to post them.
