A co-worker of my husband casually asked him if he had seen the paper yesterday and my husband replied that he had skimmed through it and asked what was in it. "your kids, I think!" My husband keeps a family photo on his desk and he actually recognized then!
So there they were my Wilkes-Barre kids posing for a group picture, with our Church youth group, "Rebelations"!
The Youth Group held a "Hunger feast" The youth group members not only cooked and served the meal, they presented an interactive performance to raise awareness of poverty, job loss, hunger - and how easy it is for one's lot in life can change, when one thing goes wrong. One portion of the program, described how a small business owner went from middle class business owners to unemployment and foreclosure when a Walmart Super Center opened in their fictitious home town.
The teens collected several hundred dollars in cash as well as non-perishable food items all of which will be donated to local organizations that help the needy
