Looking to rent a home. Moving to Northeast, PA ( monroe county)
Hello everyone,
Let's get right to it. I'm 29, Husband 30, son 8. Young family - Old ways. Looking for nice, quite, beautiful, place with kind of a small town feel not to far from things. Love mountains, colorful trees, nice landscape's, snow, peace and quite and value family time together. Whether it be w walk on a trail or a fun getaway or even sitting in the back yard looking at the mountains and trees. Looking for that place, but with no loud car with what people my age call "beat", no gangs, drugs, shootings, Racism, fast car speeding down the street, people next door fighting outside with there boyfriend, telling him how he not the father of the baby or a real man because he don't have a job. But how can he go get a job, when that baby you yell at him about not being the father. He's taking care of while you go down the street to get high!! ALL of this while my son is outside. So now, my kid can't play because your being a complete a#@ hole!!! Sorry everyone...... I had a flash back and had to have a moment ! We can't buy a house right now due to our credit, so we have to rent (I said, we had old ways... not old wisdom.) We are learning. Now back to what I was saying: We are looking for a nice and quite place to settle down and raise our family, have more kids, and actually like our neighbors. I have a degree for a Physical Therapy Assistant ( still have to take state boards). Husband is a Truck Driver - Class A. We will be ready to move in march 2008. My husband loves Mount Pocono. Reminds him of Yellowstone but no volcano's! Almost forgot my son speaks a little Japanese and wants to know is there a place out there where he can go to continue? We have looked at Hawley, Jim Thorpe, Back Mountain, Mountain Top. We love Monroe county. I like Mount Pocono, Mountainhome, Arlington Hts., East Struodburg, and Pocono Pines. Please help us out! And even if you know someone that has a house for rent. I hear that finding renters is hard. Hey we're renters! And we're looking. The school district we like so far is Pocono Mountain. So any info would be greatly appreciated. Any thing about the other parts of Northeast PA, work, school, family fun, R&R, sports for kids (all), whatever! Thanks Moose.
There is a lot of information on here that you might want to weed through.
You like Mt. Pocono but, that is becoming all the things on your list of what you don't want. I'm afraid the inner city has entered into some of those peaceful mountains.
You might like, in Mt. Pocono, Emerald lakes, for renting as far as Mt. pocono goes. Some communites are city like, and some are too expensive.
All that noise and clatter that you don't want still can be found in PCP and
Penn Est. They may look quiet on the outside, but they are not.
I know as when I lived in PE my neighbors were sadly up all night due to uncareing neighbors,. many times during the year.
Quiet might just be Gilbert area Kunkletown around that way.
Your still not far from lakes and mountains. Beltzville Lake, or Hickory Run.
Sciota, Snydersville, Saylorsburg.......
But, crime is everywhere, as you know. Its on the news often and it isn't just here in Pa. Its just too hard to elude.
Pleasant Valley is a well respected school system in the Monroe area.
There is a huge library in Brodheadsville, some Karate places, dancing school, imagination zone, bowling. For theaters we use one off of 33 on 248 Easton area. Great 12 theater....plus a Sams, Walmart, Wegmans, and others.
Thats all I can think of now..........I'll try to come up with some more
See, I read a lot of info about PCP. I can't find info on Sciota, Snydersville, Saylorsburg or the Gilbert area "Kunkletown".Someone suggested Chatham Hill (which I can't find info on). All I want is a good place to raise a family with peace and quite, wonderful views of trees in the fall, nice white snow, Moutains...Just the good old outdoors! I want to let my son go outside without being afraid someone will come by and start shooting or see a man hit a woman or a woman hitting a man and the me running in the house to call 911. I want to see the stars at night and show my kids that there is more to this world than ipods, TV, and watching guys on the corner making fast money. That you don't have to worry about wearing Sean John or Rockawear.
Maybe I'm dreaming.... ( Is that coffee I smell burning! Let me wake up.) LOL. I still have faith in a good community! Any suggestions???????

I sent you a PM back on those towns......Hope it helps.
I agree, who wants a neighborhood with all the fussin' and fighin' going on.
Its not good for you, your family and children.
There is enough going on in the World then to have crime in your homes community. Good luck to you......

Thanks, I sent you a Direct Message. Let me know all you can.
You may have some difficulties renting with the poor credit history. My sister-in-law had a bankruptcy and she had difficulty finding an apartment right after that. Eventually she found a sweet older person to rent from, so hopefully you can make a personal contact and find a nice house for you and your family.
Hi, I am from a town near Jim Thorpe called Orwigsburg. My old town has everything that your looking for including Hawk Mt only 5 min away. Google (Orwigsburg) and check it out. I left to come to Fl for the warm weather, but it's very expensive here and I miss home. From what you said, Your husband should have no problem getting a job there as there always looking for drivers and if you get your degree you will no problem gettting a good job.
Try Towmensing Trails in Carbon County. Its very close to Monroe County. About 5 minutes to Big Boulder Ski Area and Split Rock. Also in the area is paintball, white water rafting, and tons of other stuff. Split rock has a small movie theater, golf, tennis, all that jazz. I live in that development and it is generally a nice quite development. I know there are a ton of places to rent in it. Its about 10 minutes to Blakeslee, which has a flea market, places to eat, a super market, and more.
From the year i lived in Towmensing trails it is much better then Robinhood Lakes in Monroe county. All our neighbors are nice, the people respect everyone else and their property. We got out of Robinhood lakes because of the amount of crime that was starting to happen there.
And as far as your credit goes, i do know alot of places around here look at your credit history. Some even pull your criminal history, not saying you have one but just letting you know that most rentals don't rent to 'just anyone'.. We looked into renting and found it easier to buy a house then it was to rent.
