Is the Luger place that is opening up on the corner of N. Washinton and Linden THE famous Luger steak house? I have always wanted to try it, but did not want to hall my but into Manhatan or Garden City to do it. They will get at least one visit from this family. If they are, will they follow the practice of the NYC Luger's and have standard sides and nothing else? Hmmmmmm, I am getting hungry, is it lunch time yet?

The NY restaurant(s) are PETER Luger's Steakhouse(s). The Scranton eatery is Carl Von Luger's Steak House. Maybe trading on the Luger name?

Bob Dickert owns Great Uncle Peters in Clark's Summit and Carl Von Lugars. Both are named after his Great Uncle, Peter Lugar who owned the Brooklyn restuarant.

Shula's is a great steak house. I was hoping one would go in a casino.

It's not THE Lugar's...and I have personally heard mixed reviews. You could always go to Ruth's Chris down at Moheagan Sun. It's been a LONG time since I have been there...but back in the day Farleys (on Courthouse Square) had an incredible New York Strip.

Lugars in Brooklyn gets mixed reviews. Everyplace does. Ruth's Chris is good but it is a chain. This guy is local and has a family here. I try to support local businesses where ever i'm at.

This is a great sentiment, but keep in mind, it is always local people who work in chains and often a chain is owned by a local franchisee

Yah i get it. Not to split hairs or anything but owning a family restaurant is much different. Workers in restaurants typically don't last very long and go from place to place. It is like comparing Walmarts and small hardware shops. Sure local people work at Walmart and lowes but there is something special about a place like Bunnels.

Most Franchisee's do not have as much day to day as a family owned place either.

Family places that succeed are not bought primarily as an investment. there is a certain level of pride that family restaurant have that don't exist in chains.

All just my opinion.....

I'm not saying the place sux...I have just heard some "tings" as they like to say. I'm quite sure he also has a loyal following or he would not be able to afford to open another location I agree that it is important to supporrt local business...so long as they are providing a quality product...which many people must agree that he does
