Hello everyone! I was born in Scranton and raised near Elk Mountain.. I then went to college in the Poconos......... I've been in NEPA for most of my life. However, the last 5 years I've been in Maryland for work purposes. I've lost touch and need help!

The reason for my post is - we are looking for a free wedding ceremony site... if not free, then affordable! We are getting married at the Radisson, Lackawanna Station and want to get married someplace close by. My finance is not in favor of getting married in a church. What other options are there? I thought maybe someplace at Nay Aug? Or is there a gazibo anywhere on Lake Scranton? Or is it possible to get married on the University property someplace? Marywood?

HELP!?

I'd be so grateful for any suggestions!!!

Thanks,
Jessica

We got married at Dingman Falls. It was beautiful. The problem. We almost got arrested. LOL. We didn't know you needed a permit. The ranger let us do it though. LOL. From what I understand now, you can get married in the state parks with a permit.

Lackawanna State Park would be gorgeous, as well as Dingman's Falls.

My friend got married on the cliff overlooking Honesdale. It was pretty except for the ugly chain link fence around the perimeter.

I'm sure you'd like the ceremony to be relatively close to the reception site. Nay Aug is nice. So is McDade Park

jameza40,
We paid $5 to a JP 41 years ago. I don’t think you can get any cheaper. I have a feeling that they don’t charge $5 anymore. 41 divided into $5.00 means that it cost us about 13 cents a year. That gives you a lot of money, that you would have spent on a ceremony, to spend on your honeymoon or new living accommodations.
