Default Wilkes Barre / Scranton Events

As I sit on my couch suffering from either a bad cold or allergies from hell, I am being treated to the sound of fireworks coming from Nesbit Park. Sounds like a good display too.
After looking at the times leader, the 570 and weekender websites, I find no mention of fireworks or an event in that vicinity. Although lots of bars with drink and dinner specials for mom.

Does anybody have any suggestions for local event calendars for the area?

It isn`t listed on the Wilkes Barre Facebook page either, which is a shame, because I believe Nesbit is technically in Wilkes Barre.

Are you sure it was Nesbitt Park? I saw them too, but I believe it was Mohegan Sun Casino...it was a big day up there at the horse track (something to do with The Kentucky Derby). I think they are probably the ones that shot off the fireworks.

We have a sunroom off our second floor, and I could see them through the trees. I don't believe that could of been the casino, unless they had some too.

I can only guess people prefer to use word of mouth to spread the news of an event, it helps keep out the undesirables.

Maybe it was a private event? My wife said the JCC just announced plans about redeveloping the old Price chopper store and they could of been holding an event or fundraiser.

Default An upcoming Scranton event

Here is something new and different that I just came across:

Mind, Body & Soul at the Downtown Scranton Riverwalk (http://www.semiangroup.com/bodymindsoul - broken link)

It is tied to the downtown Scranton Riverwalk and The Lackawanna Heritage Valley organization and Riverwalk trail recently discussed here. The LVHA site is at Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority (LHVA) | Where Americas Story Lives and lists this and other events. This site also has links to other sites with potential activities.

It isn't a single source for everything going on in NEPA but it is one place to bookmark and look at occasionally.
