For variety. It is a real pizza and it tastes good to a lot of people.

American cheese isn't even "real" cheese - it's a cheese food product. What the he!! is that?

Maronis sells A LOT of what they call pizza. Not everyone likes it and, and those who don't, just don't buy it. I am one of these. I also know many people who buy it.

It is amazing that a few people continue to thrash away at this topic, as if:

1. NEPA pizza makers will will realize it isn't 'real pizza' and stop making 'OF style' pizza

2. OF style pizza makers will change the recipe and/or cheese they use

3. People who make and buy OF style pizza care what others think about it

Next question?

I don't know and I don't want to know.

I understand that some of the locals love OF pizza and that's cool, they were raised on it. The question we have is why did the group of Italians that came to PA change their pizza so dramatically and use American cheese? NY is only about 100 miles away and you would think that the pizza would be basically the same. It's not. OF pizza is basically a poor man's version of the classic NY style. When I first tried OF pizza I was baffled. I was wondering "this is what they consider pizza?" I could not believe that people would consume this stuff. In the end, we really don't care about OF pizza and who consumes it. We are just discussing it on an internet forum. We don't expect people to stop eating it or consuming it. We just continually ask WHY?

I once had what they called a Hawaiian pizza made with cottage cheese. It had ham and pineapple on it. I really liked it and I forgot where I got it. I have also had what others called Hawaiian pizzas that were made with mozzarella - I did not like them as good. Has anybody else ever tried one with cottage cheese and where did you get it?

Oh, I'm sure we do. Just about everything we eat today has been processed in one form or another. No argument here.
