Default Info About Kutztown

I'm thinking of going to Kutztown University next year. Does anyone know anything about the town of Kutztown?

Although I've never been there, I have a few friends that went to that school. Pretty safe area... party school.

I think it's an awesome town (although I never went to college at KU, my son was on a cycling team based a few blocks away, so I spent lots of time in town). It is the kind of place you can walk around safely late at night. I did hear some parties as well off campus in my travels

If you do not have a car, then you'll be limited to what is in town. For example, if you enjoy a large shopping mall, you'd need to travel to Reading or Allentown by car. Other than that, there are plenty of small businesses along the main street that you could reach easily by walking or bicycling. I saw many Old Order Mennonites bicycling around too.

Kutztown has some rules about student housing, with the result that it's much more expensive for students - maybe $700-800/month for two people in town.

The town itself is an odd mix of students and older people, who often are not all that friendly to non-white or foreigners. I think in this area, Kutztown would be the most welcoming as the number of students and faculty easily overwhelm the 'townies' but there is still some tension.

The town itself is nice, relatively safe, and someone of a party town.
