Don Tomaso's, which is in the Ice Box plaza across from Scranton High School, closed on Aug 31, 2007. They said they are reopening in November in Dunmore. That sucks because I really liked their bar-b-q wings.

And I know not all New Yorkers are guilty of this, but it is a common trait amongst them (I am referring to NY city area natives, not NY state). Their attitudes on pizza also reflects this, that their pizza is the greatest in the world and that we are just a bunch of PA hicks eating our square American-cheese pizza.
Posts like this make you sound like a PA hick eating American cheese pizza. First off, round pizza with mozzarella or neapolitan pizza, originated in Italy, not New York.
Neapolitian pizza is the norm for the large majority of the United States.
I am not from New York, and I think Neapolitian is better than the Old Forge stuff. Stop making this a New York issue, it isn't. You simply hate people from the NY metroplitan area and are using this as an excuse to attack them.

I always thought the best pizza I've ever had was at Antonio's in Edwardsville. I'm a New York style guy myself... not a big fan of the Sicilian/tray/Old Forge style. Is there a good New York style place in the Clarks Summit area? I haven't found one yet.

Thanks for the tip and for staying on topic......I'll check out Antonio's instead of going to VicMars for seafood next time I'm in Edwardsville............

That doesn't mean anything. Crappy chain pizza is the norm for most of the country (Pizza Hut, Domino's, etc)....does that make those pizzas the best? Not exactly.

Actually, we're spoiled here in NEPA, with a large selection of home cooked Old Forge AND NY style pizza to choose from. People I know in other areas, especially the south, can't find anything better than Papa John's.

I have found a good pizzeria for those who prefer Neapolitan. Antonio's Pizza Deluxe in Kingston, very good. Although I would prefer the crust a bit chewier (is that a word?)

I don't know what "style" you'd consider these, but the best pizza I've ever had is the square pizzas at Victory Pig, Pizza Loven, and Sizzle Pi. I've had a lot of pizza in my day, and I would consider NE PA the best place I've ever been for pizza. Pretty much anywhere you go, the pizza is great.

I have to agree Sizzle Pi is really good and so is the Pig.

Default Old Forge Pizza?

I could never understand why so many people seemed so hot on this pizza! I lived in Scranton most of my life and it never turned me on! My favorites are Maroni,s, Vince the Prince Pizza, Turnabes ( probably out of buisiness now ) and Pappas ( not sure if they are still around either ) One thing I can tell you all....while you reside in Scranton, enjoy all the diversity of the foods it has to offer, because once you move you may not experience that diversity! I moved to Connecticut and have yet to find any pizzas even close to the ones I,ve mentioned and FORGET about finding good smoked kielbasi around here YUK!!! ) I have my kielbasi shipped from Schiffs!

I believe Vince the Pizza Prince is out of business as well. Even if his pizza was great, I wouldn't give him my business:
