It's official. Just heard on the news that Books-a-Million is coming to the old Borders in Dickson City. Expected to open in early November.

Better than an empty storefront.
But not much.

Why? I looked up BAM online, seems like a decent bookstore....looks like pretty much the same type of store as Borders. And if they have lower prices than Borders, it will be even better. That's probably one reason Borders went under...they were a little pricey....especially in a day when you can order cheaply from Amazon and have your book in a few days.

Online cheapness is part of it, but as far as the physical stores go, I shop in 3 different BAMs. Selection/inventory is not as good as Borders and stores are always messy(Books not returned to proper shelves, just laying where patrons dropped them). I'm sure as a new store, messiness will not be a problem for a little while, but selection might be iffy. Like I said better than an empty store. Personally, I prefer B&K.

I personally liked going to the borders in Dickson City ("City") but at least a new book store is coming instead of it being vacant, right?
