Good for you, getting out. It's a hopeless situation there. The BOD may be waking up a bit but it sure is too little, too late. Good luck to you!

I have done this before living in NYC it takes the commitment of home owners to network together and change this reputation. See these few examples that have changed my building first then my block now my community. Examples: #1 Make a personal commitment to not litter and encourage others to do the same. #2 Invite a local Keep America Beautiful affiliate representative to speak at our club house.#3 Organize a paint-up, fix-up or clean-up activity for an elderly or disabled person's home.#4 Provide awards and incentives for families participating in improving the community.#5 See something say something. Report crimes, littering, loud music, graffiti etc... APCP beware when I become a board member. United we stand divided we fall !!!

That's all well and good until you report the local dealer and your house gets shot up or your life otherwise threatened.

I think this position is why things don't change. Folks don't want to speak up when there is a problem. The status quo will remain unless a group effort decides to stand up for what's right.

While I agree with you, in theory at least, reality wise reporting crimes can be very dangerous. If APCP is as overrun with dealers and gang bangers, as been claimed, retaliation of the violent kind is a very real repercussion.

Granted, that is a reality. I don't live in APCP so I don't know how good or bad it is. I am going by what I have read. No picnic there. However, Bushkill isn't 5th Avenue by a long shot. I wanted a quality of life for my family so I couldn't just let things slide. I reported criminal activity when I see it. I called security and the state police. I keep records and take pictures when I can. I have been threatened and I reported that. My general opinion of security in these communities is that they are a joke to everyone. I do my due diligence and that's all I can do. I work everyday in NYC so I can't do everything. I do what I can to keep my piece of Bushkill as quiet, crime free as possible. I think my efforts, how small, can be duplicated anywhere. Just more people have to step up instead of hiding behind your 4 walls.
