Hello, I have been contemplating relocating from North Eastern Bergen County NJ to NEPA. We want to be in somewhat of a rural environment, but yet only about an hour and twenty minutes from the Hackensack area. So we have discovered Bushkill, which seems to be very reasonably priced, (below reasonably actually), and the houses seem to be in good condition. I am wondering if they were all vacation homes that are now going to sell off for cheap and become primary residences, but I cannot seem to find any information about the schools in that area. I have heard that E.Stroudsburg and Stroudsburg are no good and that I should stay away, so I do not want the kids to go to school their either, if Bushkill does not have their own circuit.

Any advice on areas I could explore, and any information about the school in Bushkill, or in any of the NJPA border towns would be great. Thanks.

Search this forum, go to Great Schools online, and come back with more detailed questions. Pretty broad answer to pretty broad question is that the schools in ES are not so great, relatively speaking. Stroudsburg a bit better. None of the districts in Monroe are excellent. And you have almost no options if you want to go the private route. If I were you, I would think about the Lehigh Valley for a better range of school quality and choice.

Bushkill is very scenic but their schools aren't the best. They don't totally suck but you can do better in my opinion. I live in Bushkill and I am considering sending a child of my own to Notre Dame E.S.(Catholic school) in East Stroudsburg so I don't have my child dealing with some of the trash in this area. I would look into Milford(Delaware Valley S.D.) or Lords Valley/Hawley(Wallenpaupack S.D.) although that may be a further commute to Hackensack. You can go further down 33 to Brodheadsville, Saylorsburg, Sciota, etc. I heard the schools down there are good but not familiar. Bushkill is not as ghetto(i.e., Newark, Paterson, etc.) as Riverside mentioned but it does have it's rough patches. You just have to be aware before making a purchase in certain areas in Bushkill.
