Default Saw Creek Estates

Just wanted to get some info about Saw Creek Estates from anyone who lives or has lived there. From reading the Pocono Record, I know someone was just shot and killed there recently and there was a huge drug raid. Besides these two things.....how do you feel about this community?

We looked at that community a few years back and something told us not to.

I did read in the paper last week that there was a drug raid there. I also have heard that it has gone downhill recently.

I agree with okaydorothy. There seems to be a lot going on in SC. I always heard it was potholed, and not taken care of. Resale values are low.
I almost bought there not knowing the facts, years ago...prices were so, so, good ...hummmmm
Problem is that it is another community that the inner city has entered.
If your option is to mingle with the city lifestyle ,then try it.
I came to Pa. many years ago to enjoy the peaceful, quiet, ruralness.
Times that I want the entertainment of the city life, I head out and go there.
Then meander my way home where everything is just perfectly right.

Default Saw Creek

I totally agree with the others. I'd also like to add that the traffic on 209 (to get to Saw Creek) is horrible especially on weekends. Let's just clarify, I don't think SC is a fraction of what Pocono Country Place is as far as criminal activity, etc.

Your right Izzy........SC will never be as bad as Pocono Cty Place.
Traffic is a mess on that 209 area also.
No one should be directed to PCP, ever.

Thanks for the reply Izzymare....It's at least good to hear that it isn't as bad as PCP.

Saw Creek is on a downslide and it's a terrible shame. We are selling a family
home in there. Been in the family for 25 years. WE never rented to anyone.
Always used by family. Saw Creek has such nice amenities but for some reason the community just doesn't care or if they do they are complaining on
deaf ears...I only hope for the decent people that live there that this will turn
around, but for now look elsewhere, and if you can, stay out of gated
communities..they seem to have more trouble there. Good Luck.

Just an added comment. There are other ways to beat the traffic until the
bypass is completed. WE always got off at the first exit in Pa. and went up
River Road all the way either to Route 209 near the Mignosi's supermarket or
by Fernwood. It may be a little longer but you beat the traffic on 209 especially on weekend by the flea market. I used to live behind the flea
market up on the hill and I found out quickly how to maneuver around this
mess. Yet year after year I saw people sitting in the traffic every weekend
and often thought? Do you ever ask a "local" if there's another road...The
pastor at St. John's Catholic Church used to make fun and say this was the
best kept secret in the Poconos. You could also get off at the Marshalls
Creek exit and turn right on Buttermilk Falls Road and take that into River
Rd.
