Cool Wood Pellet Stove Repairman

In 8/2010 I purchased 2 American Harvester Multi-fuel wood pellet stove fireplace inserts for my 2 stone fireplaces; one unit is in the basement the other unit is in the living room. Both units are inserted into my stone fireplaces. I purchased both united online thru Northern Tool. Anyway I found a private
contractor who installs these stoves. Everything was fine until the auger motor went on the basement insert. I have an extended warranty on both stoves which includes parts & service. I received a new auger motor and the contractor installed it; he left after installation; the unit stayed on for 45 min. & then died.
The contractor doesn't want to be bothered anymore with these units as he didn't sell them to me (then why did he agree to install them). So my problem is I need an independent repair man who is willing to fix this stove. My basement is freezing & last night a pipe burst. To heat the basement is by electric heat on 55 degrees which costs around $250.00 per month just for the basement. I live in Pocono Summit, Pa. 18346 so if anyone knows of someone who would repair this stove, I would be forever grateful. The purchase can reach me thru my email address: bowwow89@verizon.net. Thank you.

Northern Tool is known to sell below par items . I would look more at the quality of the motor then the installer .. Remember , you get what you pay for ,,,, Why cant you do it yourself ?

I would suggest another direction. Try Stroudsburg Electric Motor Service: http://www.stroudsburgelectricmotor.com/ If the electric motor is burning out; maybe they have a better replacement or maybe they will know why you have a problem? They do service many electric motors and they have many years of experience. You could simply call them at 421-8909 and ask them if they could help.

There was two topics for this and as I asked in the other one how is it you are determining the motor is not working? Your looking directly at the shaft on the motor and it's not turning?

The reason I ask this is because these pellet stoves have augers, the auger is going to have a shear pin probably on the end of the auger shaft that will break easily. If something too big gets in the auger preventing it from moving or there is some other reason preventing it's free movement the 50 cent shear pin will snap instead of the very expensive auger or transmission.

thecoalman,

Good point! Many snow blowers have the same problem with shear pins. People try to replace the belts and chains when all that is needed is a small piece of brass or other soft metal rod.

Just curious if the OP ever got the motor fixed or if it was a problem with the shear pin? Hopefully there is heat again in the basement?
