I actually LOVE a good hot dog and as we are moving to NEPA next month, this topic is of special interest to me!

Hot Dog Johnny's is the best hot dog I've ever had.....its not in NE PA, its actually on Rt 46 in Buttzville, NJ (not far from the Delaware Water Gap) about 45 minutes to an hour from Scranton. There's no chili or cheese or anything other than basic hot dog toppings (mustard, onions, pickles, relish)...but it doesn't matter...they're the best, and their fries are great too, along with their frosted mugs of birch beer. And you can't beat the classic roadside hot dog stand atmosphere with picnic tables and a swingset and slide for the kids. They actually enclose it in the winter, so its open year round.

Another vote for Hot Dog Johnny's. No compairison. The Barrel is alright, if you really need one that's in PA. Coney high is not that bad, but I've had it far too often, never even been in coney low. Supposedly there is a real good dog place in carbondale, can't recall the name.

The place in Carbondale that you are referring to is called the Carwanna. I ate there once a few years back and I do remember it was pretty good. Don't know what it's like now.

Hot Dog Johnny's is out in Buttsville, NJ. It's not that far out in NJ after you cross the Delaware Water Gap bridge. As for places around here, I'm partial to either Coney Island(the original under by the underpass closer to Chamberlain) or Chick's Diner's weiners. Although, I have eaten the ones on special constantly at Keystone in West Side and they're passable in a pinch.

Does anyone know of any good places with "Italian hot dogs"? The come in what "they" call "pizza bread". Kind of like a pita bread pocket but thicker. It's hot dogs with peppers, potatoes & onions. Add condiment of your choice. YUM!!!

I can't even think of any good ones in Jersey anymore. They're all disappearing.

I've never actually tried one of these and don't know of anyplace in PA that has them but I've heard about a place in NJ called Jimmy Buff's that is supposedly well known for them. They have locations in East Hanover and West Orange.

ROFL true but Sabatini's store with its deli is good also. They make an awsome sandwich for a very reasonable price. Try the cheese steak fried onions and sweet peppers provolone cheese.... Damn now I am seriously in need of the 40 each way drive to pittston...
