Best Northeast PA Hot Dog Places
My vote is for Yocco's, with several locations across the Lehigh Valley. But I don't get back down there often enough to enjoy them. As a side, is the Lehigh Valley considered Northeast PA? I didn't think it was, but some say it is.
What are good hot dog places in the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Area?

My kids for some reason don't prefer Yocco's, but they love Jimmy's down in Easton in the 25th Street Shopping Center. Maybe it's the pickle? My DH likes Yocco's and we get some down in T-town before going to the velodrome.
Lehigh Valley Native - Yocco's has these "go packs" now where you get a big box of the ingredients necessary to make your Yocco's at home to get the fix

Doggie packs!! I know they are awesome. I usually buy one, but I don't think they taste as good.
I've had Pott's dogs, which aren't too bad and they stick a pickle on them too. I've seen Jimmy's but never had them.
Up here, I have only found Abe's which I think might be boiled hot dogs, not sure though. IMHO, hot dogs shouldn't be boiled.

Wow, I haven't had a Yocco's dog in about 8 years. I used to date a girl at Kutztown University, and I always stopped at Yocco's for lunch on Friday afternoons on my way to pick her up to bring her back to King's for the weekend.
My favorites in NEPA are Abe's on S. Main in Wilkes-Barre (all the other Abe's are garbage), Majestic & Central Lunch counters in Pittston (are they even open anymore?), and Coney Island Lunch in Scranton.

Yes, HobokenGuy, the Majestic and Central Restuarants are still alive and well in Downtown Pittston, albeit they seem to be struggling more and more nowadays as the city continues to empty out. I'm hopeful that the new waterfront condos will spark renewed interest in the city that will help to reinvigorate our struggling Main Street.
My favorite is still Coney Island on Lackawanna Avenue though.

Abe's South Main St.. Cheap, fast, grilled; "with" chili, mustard and onions, well worth the gastrointestinal distress, if any.....

My husband grew up in the Scranton area and has spoken fondly of a place called "Hot Dog Johnnys." Is it still around? Anyone familiar with it?
I actually LOVE a good hot dog and as we are moving to NEPA next month, this topic is of special interest to me!

Hot Dog Johnny, now that sounds like a good place for a dog! Is it still open?
I had Abe's in WB over by KMart and I was less than impressed. I don't think it is the same as the one people mention on main st, I'll have to give it a try. Anyone know what brand hot dog they use?
@ MsMilford, I say Yocco's, they also have great Steak Sandwiches and Pierogies. Although in the Lehigh Valley, pierogies are all deep fried, here in WB area, they seem to be pan fried.

Oh yes!
Hubby's thinking it was out on 380 by the water gap -- is that right?
I could eat a dog with sauerkraut and mustard right now!
