To answer your question, Monsey Ave is a good neighborhood. Its the Green Ridge section of the city. I'm in West Scranton and I'm happy there. Despite what the naysayers say, Scranton is not a bad place to live...I grew up outside the city and I'm perfectly happy living in Scranton, in fact I like it better than when I lived in both the Mid-Valley and Dunmore. Scranton isn't perfect, but no place really is. I have kids and one thing I like about Scranton is the neighborhood schools...no riding a school bus for 30 minutes to get to school. One of the reasons I like West Side is the fact that it still has a neighborhood high school. There also seems to be a sense of community here that I didn't get from other places I lived. Well, Dunmore had a sense of community, but was also very cold and suspicious toward anyone who wasn't a born-and-bred Dunmorean.
The politics are corrupt in Scranton, but they're pretty much corrupt all over NEPA. One of the negatives to NEPA as a whole is the deep political corruption.

Some people here would have you believe that Scranton is Camden, NJ, which couldn't be further from the truth.
