Hi! We're thinking of skiing this weekend but the weather doesn't look great this week. Just wondering if they had any kind of base they can hold on to. We have a house near there and I know all of our snow melted. Thanks!

Thanks! I think we're going to wait. All of their runs aren't open today. I'm sure they'll be open this weekend whether they should be or not so I think I'll wait for better conditions.

Both JF and BB were GREAT this weekend. You missed a lot. They make snow every night when temperature goes down to 28F and lower.

How are the ski resorts doing this winter? Lack of snow has to hurt. People don’t think about skiing - if they don’t see snow on the ground. Also; the warm temperatures have meant that our resorts had to spend lots of money just to keep their slopes open.

Not true for Pocono resorts! East Cost resorts can make snow since they used to make it every winter and do not depend on weather conditions. Yes, they will spend more $$ this year to make snow, but they still have skiers who pay money. As soon as temperature reaches 28F - they start making snow.
But for example, Utah resorts have more problems this year since they depend on a natural snow and most of them dont even have showmaking.
People who really ski think about skiing all the time. ;-)

While that might be true about the dedicated skiers; there are still many that will not go if they don’t see snow.

As far as our resorts capable of making snow when the temperatures go down to 28; we had a lot of warm weather right before the Xmas holidays. Here is a link to my weather for the month of December: http://www.weather.com/weather/monthly/18370?month=-1 I live only a few miles from Camelback.
All of this is going to hurt the bottom line.

Or not (comparing to big ski areas as Utah, for example). I know a lot of skiers and most of them prefer do not spend $$$ going to Utah or Colorado now days, but they go to local places more offten than they used to do.
btw - JFBB was just sold to other company in December 2011 and I personally see a lot of improvements and much better skiing conditions. New owner have other resonts on East Cost. Are they crazy to spend money "for nothing"? I dont think so ...

Peak Resorts has been running JF/BB for a few years now. They do an incredible job.

I'll second both points. Peak had been leasing and managing the two places for a while, and have been doing a very good job, they seem really good at taking a small ski area and really making the most of it.

If you almost-daily condition reports from skiers and snowboarders, look at the JFBB forum at paskiandride.
