Default "Cash Mob" Floods Local Pizzeria

I have to admit that even though I consider myself to be very technologically-savvy I have never before heard of a "cash mob" until I read the following article in the Scranton Times-Tribune:

Cash mob from West Scranton High School floods local pizzeria - News - The Times-Tribune

In essence a bunch of students, using social media, decided to descend upon one nearby pizzeria simultaneously in an effort to support local businesses. In this era of chain restaurants, big-box stores, and e-commerce many "mom-and-pop" operations are finding it increasingly difficult to compete. Now that I now what a "cash mob" is I'd love to also work to organize one here in Pittsburgh.

That was a good story. Good business to support too. Great food. And the owner is always willing to help out with school fundraisers.

I heard about something similar with a small hardware store. What a great idea!

Yup, contrary to popular belief and recent polls taken, I do believe that their is! And this is but one indication on it.

This is happening on LI too. Sheena, you may be interested! Recently this was done in down town Riverhead. For those of you who don't know the area, it is a Main Street that was a beautiful, thriving business district but the town allowed all the big box stores on a main road and it proved to be a death sentence for Main Street. It is being revitalized and the cash mobs descended a week or two ago and brought great joy to the Mom and Pop businesses! It's a great thing!
